AMEX — BGC Office

The challenge

The AMEX office was designed with the structural soffit exposed — part of the look of the space, and a significant area of hard, sound-reflective concrete above the workstations. The client wanted the reflections and reverberation brought down without concealing the slab behind a conventional suspended ceiling, and wanted the treatment to disappear into a dark, uniform ceiling.

What IFI did

NoiseSHIELD gray cellulose was spray-applied directly to the exposed soffit at a nominal 1-inch thickness across approximately 210 square metres, worked carefully around existing ceiling services and fixtures after they had been protected. Once cured, the treated surface was painted charcoal gray, giving a consistent architectural finish while keeping the absorptive texture underneath.

The outcome

The office gained a sound-absorptive ceiling plane in place of a bare slab — helping reduce reflections and improve acoustic comfort — while the exposed soffit remains the visible ceiling. Final inspection and touch-up delivered a clean, uniform charcoal finish across the treated area.
